A chilling discovery in New South Wales has shocked the public as an inquest revealed that the only DNA found on the handle of a freezer containing a dead baby belonged to the infant’s mother. The incident, which occurred in January 2022 in Corowa, on the NSW-Victoria border, has led to an ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of a three-month-old infant, referred to as “KP.” This key piece of evidence, the mother’s DNA, has raised many questions, as authorities continue to probe into the circumstances surrounding the infant’s tragic death. The inquest has revealed that the baby’s cause of death remains unclear, with no definitive answers yet about how the infant ended up in the freezer.

The inquest, which began this week in Albury, is looking into the details surrounding the child’s tragic death. Police had discovered KP’s body inside a freezer at a family home, with disturbing evidence pointing to the mother, whose DNA was found both on the freezer handle and a blanket that wrapped the infant.

Despite her being the sole person linked to the freezer, authorities have not yet pressed charges against the mother, who initially claimed the baby was with an acquaintance. The police investigation has failed to determine the exact cause of death, and experts have not ruled out suffocation or drowning.

As the inquiry continues, key questions remain about the baby’s care and whether proper safety assessments were conducted before the tragic discovery.
