A Christmas Day family feud at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport turned violent, leaving three people with gunshot wounds and one critically injured from a stabbing.
The altercation began around 9:45 p.m. at a pre-security restaurant in Terminal Four. Witnesses reported a heated argument among family members that quickly escalated when one person pulled out a gun and opened fire. Three individuals, including a critically injured woman, suffered gunshot wounds.
Police detained a man with a stab wound and a girl who was uninjured in the airport parking garage. “This was a family dispute that escalated,” said Sgt. Mayra Reeson during a press briefing.
Authorities confirmed that those involved were all known to each other. The violent altercation led to four hospitalizations. While the critically injured woman remains under observation, the two men who were shot and the man stabbed are reported to be in stable condition.
Police have not disclosed the names of those involved or clarified who produced the weapon. The motive behind the dispute is still unclear as investigators review witness accounts and security footage.
The incident caused panic among travelers and staff during the busy holiday season. The airport resumed normal operations after a brief disruption, but the investigation remains ongoing.
