In a major step to improve education in Balochistan, UNESCO has secured a $1.331 million grant from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). This funding will help strengthen early education in the province, supporting the government’s efforts to reform the education system.

The Balochistan Partnership Compact (2024-2028) highlights the need for better policies, more investment, and gender-responsive approaches to ensure all children receive quality education. UNESCO will work closely with local education stakeholders to make the system more inclusive and efficient.

The project will focus on improving policy frameworks, training teachers, and enhancing collaboration among education groups. It will also set up strong systems to monitor progress and make data-driven decisions. UNESCO plans to involve local authorities to ensure the reforms are sustainable and effective.

Mr. Antony Kar Hung Tam, UNESCO’s Officer-in-Charge in Pakistan, emphasized the organization’s commitment to creating a brighter future for Balochistan’s children. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills they need for lifelong learning and development.

With this grant, UNESCO is taking a big step toward transforming education in Balochistan, ensuring every child has access to quality learning opportunities.
